Classify the interaction question

Ask how the interaction could happen

  • Pharmacokinetic: absorption, metabolism, transport, or clearance changes exposure.
  • Pharmacodynamic: two agents push the same physiological effect, such as sedation or bleeding.
  • Mixed interactions can involve both pathways.

Screen common overlap categories

  • Sedation / CNS depression
  • Stimulation / cardiovascular load
  • Serotonergic effects
  • Bleeding / platelet effects
  • Blood-pressure effects
